It may be worth your while downloading his death certificate from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk to see what information is given there. There is only one 44 year old William Lindsay 1915 death - and his death was registered in Morningside registration district, Edinburgh.

One possibility is that the death certificate could show that he died in hospital and that a "usual residence" is given there too. It could give an indication of where Castle Mills may be.

Hya Michael, take a look at the web site below, this just might be the Castle mills in his obituary. Was he a military man?

Good evening Michael
This is an extract from an article on the "One o'clock gun" fired from Edinburgh Castle

The gun used to be fired from the "Half Moon" battery on the castle to its present position on the Mills Mount Battery. There are four guns there and a salute of 21 guns can be fired on ceremonial occasions (there are at least Royal Salutes each year).

It was also known as "Castle Mills Battery"

The North British Rubber Co factory in Foutainbridge was also " Castle Mills"

Trust this is of some help.
John
