Hi
just spotted your question. I had an English teacher Winifred Hodgkiss whose husband Louis Hodgkiss was a writer from Shaw Lancashire. he died in 1977 but his books about mining may still be available. "The Black Gods Shrine" "Deep Shafts" and Underground legion". Winifred wrote a biography of her and her husband "Two Lives" She died in 1987.

I think you need to send for Thomas Hampton's marr. cert. this will give Elizabeth's status at the time and establish whether she was married before. Also Elizabeth in 1841 may have her with a child who is the parent of Elizabeth the G.dau.I don't have any units left for Ancestry so I can't look myself.Assuming this is her 1st. marriage you can then send for the birth for Elizabeth the G.dau.
So it's:
Marriage cert
1841 cen.
birth cert.
This will give all the info. you have asked for.

Kia Ora Angie from New Zealand
When you have sorted out your Elizabeths let me know!
I have a THOMAS HODGKISS born about 1855. In the March Qtr of 1876 he married Caroline Reeves and had 2 children THOMAS WILLIAM HODGKISS birth registered June 1877 and EDWIN HODGKISS born about 1878.
Thomas (Snr) died in the Sept qtr 1880 and his wife Caroline remarried to my great grandfather's kid brother.
Two daughters followed before Caroline died in the March 1895 in Aston.
I don't know who Thomas William Hodgkiss  married but there are 2 possible marriages in 1901 on the Free BMD.
If there's any likely connection let me know!
Perhaps someone may be able to send me the details of Thomas Hodgkiss born c.1855 on the 1861 or 1871 census?Regards
Marlene
