Hi Gill, Reference Police Records for Widnes. Police Officers records are notoriously difficult to trace because of the various merges between forces since the mid 1850's. Widnes and Warrington were Borough Police Forces and under local Government re-Organization in 1974, many Police officers from Widnes went to Merseyside Police. However, many stayed and both Warrington and Widnes Police became part of the Cheshire Constabulary.
I have about 1000 Police Officers names from 1bout 1880, mainly Warrington but some are Widnes bobbies. Let me know who you are looking for, you never know, I might just have him. Jim T
Talbot post 1851 Liverpool. Phillips from Hope N.Wales, Chester and Liverpool. Also interested in obtainig Cheshire Police Officers  details from 1857 to 1964.

In addition to the above you are right in saying that, after the Borough days, Widnes was part of Lancashire Constabulary until 1974, it was Divisional Headquarters for a large area including Prescot and Huyton.

Hi Jim

My husband's ggrandfather was a police constable with the Airdrie Burgh Police.  He is listed as a Police Constable on their marriage record, 1898  and he enlisted in WWI in 1915 (he died in action 1917).  Do you have any police records for this time frame for Airdrie??  His name was David Ross White Stewart......he was living in Airdrie at the time.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,

This site was wonderful for giving me info and news reports on my grandfather who was a police sergeant in Somerset. It gives all the serving police officers who had a major incident or maybe their death, reported in the news. I found several entries for David Stewart, but not sure if he is the right one.
