Anyone Researching BOWLES?
« on: Tuesday 19 October 04 20:14 BST (UK) »
Got this email today and thought someone might be interested.

Hi, have been given your email as someone interested in the Bowles family.  We are in the process of erecting a memorial to the aircrew who were killed in our Parish and would like to contact any living relatives.  Name:  Mervyn Alan Bowles, Flight Engineer, RAFVR, born 1923 died 25/02/1944 in Laughton village, Lincolnshire.  Son of Reginald and Lizzie Bowles of Goudhurst.  Buried in Goudhurst New Cemetery.  Thanks for taking the trouble to read this.
Best wishes - Di, Clerk to Laughton Parish Council

Spookily I am searching through all the BOWLES messages and came across this one

I am researching the family histories of Aircrew killed in a Lancaster MKIII on 4 May 1944

one of the fated aircrew is an uncle of one of my colleagues a Nigel Lacey Johnson and another is Arthur James BOWLES born dec 1924 in Gateshead

A similar fate as your BOWLES and indeed a similar venture

Regards

Jim
