I've started to become and addict, after my early reticence. Pop in there quite often. I find it a nice cozy place to natter but also to help and be helped  :)

Mind you I can touch type - if not always accurately  ;D

It was way too fast for me ... or maybe I was way too slow for the chatroom.

yn9man

Sometimes the chatroom can be manic but it can be very quiet.
Keep popping in.
If it's quiet you'll soon find you're feet.
Everyone is friendly and helpful.

I was going to say the same thing, my touch typing has always been excellent, got 55 wpm at college, but I just sit there and can't think what to say.  Particularly with people I don't know very well, but then I am the same in real life.

Me I'm the shy one stuck in the corner at parties!!!!

Kerry -

Back (in what seems like weeks years ago but in reality years ago) when I was in my high school typing class I couldn't type without making several errors per minute (EPM) .... probably seconds in my case. In fact, I had more EPM than WPM. I was asked to give up my "typewriter" so another student could learn how to type .   Didn't hurt my feelings for say more than 40 years but I'm getting over it .... but ever slowly just like I type.

I was going to say the same thing, my touch typing has always been excellent, got 55 wpm at college, but I just sit there and can't think what to say. Particularly with people I don't know very well, but then I am the same in real life.

Me I'm the shy one stuck in the corner at parties!!!!

Now I know who was standing on my feet / toes the other night ... ;D  ;D

One must be able to type, think quickly and be VERY organized to participate in a chat room. I am almost there ....

Bearkat -

How can I "find my feet" when Kerryb is standing on them??  :)  :)

LOL  ;D ;D ;D ;D yn9man, I'm so sorry I was standing on your toes!  It felt like there was something there.

Now if I had some old friends to talk to I'm sure I could learn to chat, type and think at the same time and even do a bit of small talk!

Why not go into the chatroom together and set up your own room?

You could then have a nice slow chat with your mates.  Hopefully there'd be enough room that you wouldn't have to stand on anyones toes.
