Cousin
« on: Tuesday 16 May 06 19:11 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to find the location of my cousin Wilma, she was born in Worcestershire and her parents were Emma and Raymond Massey, Emma was my mothers sister, i know she had a brother Raymond and a sister Leslie. Her mother remarried and moved back to Scotland where she married again and had 3 more children.
My mother showed me a photograph of Wilma with her mother and two children when she came over to visit at least 10 years ago.
I have been doing our family tree and would love to hear from her, i have found a cousin of ours who only lived around the corner from her in Worcester and it would be lovely to get in contact, the trouble is i do not know where in New Zealand she is or her married name so any help would be ratefull

Hi Lukie,

I think we'll need a lot more background to get started. Can you answer these questions as fully as possible? Even approximate answers are better than nothing.

When was Wilma MASSEY born and what was her full name? Ditto for her brother Raymond and sister Leslie When do you think she and her mother (did her father come too, or did they divorce/he died?) arrived in New Zealand and did Raymond and Leslie come as well?

Any idea when her mother Emma remarried in NZ and to whom, and when did she (and presumably her new husband) return to ENG. How old would Wilma and siblings have been then? Did the children change their surname from MASSEY?

Your post seems to imply that Wilma at least remained in NZ when her mother returned to ENG. Do you know if her brother and sister also remained here?

When her mother remarried in SCT, any idea when or to whom, or where. Husbands ocupation?

Does that photo you mention have any further information eg. dates, biographical or personal information on the reverse, do you know where or when it was taken?

You imply also that Wilma married. Any idea when? Even a  guess might help.

Regards, riley

Hi Riley
My cousin Wilma Massey was born in Worcestshire and as i have said she had a brother Raymond and a sister Leslie, their dates of birth i dont know.
Her parents Emma and Ray split up and Emma took them up to Scotland but from what i have been told their father took them back to Worcestshire. Her mother remarried to a man called Alex More (Moore) and they had three more children Alex, Gina and Maureen. As far as i know her father Ray stayed in Worcester, the only way i found out that Wilma had gone to New Zealand was when my mother showed me a photograph of Wilma with her two children  who looked about 15 or 16 and that was about 10 years ago. I am afraid the phot does'nt give any details at all, i know her mother died but i know nothing of her second husband or any of the other children

So only Wilma came to New Zealand.

and returned to England 10 years ago on a visit.

Going to be a little difficult, but I will have a look.

Riley, seems no others came except maybe her husband.

Hi Lukie,

I'm pretty sure your talking about my mother. Her name is Wilma and she moved to New Zealand after she got married. She has a brother called Raymond and a sister called Leslie.

We visited her mother in Scotland 17 years ago. Are you able to attach a copy of the photo so I can confirm if it is our family.

I'm impressed, if a little annoyed that such a result has always eluded me.
Living in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Hi Katiekate
I had just about given up on finding anything about Wilma, i do have one photograph of her with two grown up children with her mother Emma but i hav'nt a clue how to send it on the computer.
Emma came from a large family her sisters were Hannah Agnes, Jemima and my mother Jean and her two brothers were Jim and John, I have managed to find Johns daughter Lydia who also lived in Worcester and we keep in touch, i have also been up to Scotland to see our other cousin Gilbert ,  i Have to tell you that all our aunts and uncles have died although we are not sure about John as Lydia lost contact with him many years ago and the last time she saw him he was living in Brighton.
I do hope Wilma is the same person as my cousin, if she is tell her i have been doing the family tree and have got back as far as 1762, the other thing i remember is that Wilsma is ten days older than me, my birthday is 5th February, let me know if its the same person.
