James Benfield death/burial, Bledington
« on: Monday 15 May 06 15:16 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for the death/burial of James Benfield in Bledington, Glos.

He died between 1814 and 1841.

I have found his wife Mary and family on the 1841 census for Bledington, but not James.  His last son Thomas was cr 10.7.1814 at Bledington.

If anyone out there can help me I would be much obliged

Thanks
Sheila

James Benfield was buried in Bledington on October 29th 1835.
It says he was aged 72.
Would that sound about right?

Hi BC

Brilliant, it certainly sounds like him, the age is about right if I have been following the right chap.

Could you tell me your source just for my records.

Thanks very much for you help.

Regards and thanks
Sheila

That answers the question on my other posting, I replied before reading this..........

May I be so bold as to ask where you got the transcriptions from.........

I find Glos very frustrating as very little has been published in the areas that I am interested in...........

Many thanks for all you help
Sheila

I am thinking this James Benfield is my great great great grandfather. Married to Mary Austin
Father of John Benfield. Would love to know a little more about them.
Thanks Christine.

Hi,
The Gloucestershire PRs have been digitalised and are available on A******y. But be careful. Trust ONLY the digitalised records which can be searched for parish by parish.
The transcribed records on A******y are NOT to be trusted. These records were, believe it or not, transcribed in China! There are MANY errors on the transcribed records and any search results here should be checked against the digitalised records, which are a facsimile of the actual PRs, to check the accuracy of the entry.
