IS EVERYONES BIRTH RECORDED
« on: Tuesday 19 October 04 09:14 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the birth of Arthur Bradshaw who was shown as 11 on the 1881 census and 31 on the 1901 census, but I have searched the 1837 on line from 1869 to 1870.  Do I need to widen my search, or for some reason or another could his birth not be registered.

Whilst some births have been missed, at that time I'm sure most would have been.

I searched the death indexes three times for my grandmother.  I then looked for her parents marriage and found her mother had been married twice and my grandmother was actually born with another surname.

It was not compulsory to register bmd's until 1875.   Have you tried FreeBMD just in case 1837online missed it?

Well I don't know what happened Muriel - all I did was click on "reply"!!

I can't really help with your Selina Trussell but do know that Selly Oak is part of Birmingham, which would be Warwickshire not Worcestershire if that is any use to you.
