There has been an Angland family in Newmarket, Boherbue for generations. There was recently a family notice in the Irish Examiner advising of the death of an Angland. I  believe it was Katherine, the wife  of John, but I may be incorrect on the first name of the decedent .My grandfather's family were neighbors of the Anglands. They are a wonderful family. They have welcomed our family back to Ireland after many years. You may wish to post on Kiskeam.Com

By "Newmarket, Boherbue" I think you may mean "Boherbue, Newmarket".  Boherbue is a village a short distance from the town of Newmarket.

And yes there are Anglands in both places and I am pretty sure all the Anglands are related at some remove from each other.  In fact wherever you look for Anglands, except for an occasional mis-spelling of England, they only seem to be in Cork, and in particular Boherbue with an odd one in Newmarket.

I have come across a website anyone interested in the name Angland may find helpful. Check out irishsheepherders.com. The obituary section mentions Anglands.                                                                                                            Maellen                         .

What a great site!  Lots of useful names and lots from Newmarket/Kiskeam.  I don't think any so far are related to my wife but who knows after a bit of digging.

Thanks

Jim

Hello,
my son & his family will be in Cork in September this year & would like advise on where they should go to look up his Angland ancestors, graveyards etc. His grandfather was Jeremiah William Angland, whose brother was Daniel as well as 8 sisters...all born South Canterbury, Cave. New Zealand.

Thank you,
Tiff
ps Jeremiah's parents were Daniel Angland & Ellen Cahill.

Hi all ,.......New info.

Have found my husband's line descended from Michael Barry Angland who 1st. married Mary Lynch- they had 7 children, 2 girls & 5 boys. I believe Dennis was the eldest son of the family, there was also a Maurice (died young), Patrick, Timothy, Mary, Joanna & possibly a Thad.

The nearest to where Michael lived was Newmarket- the names of Kiskeam & Keelnahulla (spelling ?) as well as the Parish of Boherbue. Cork.

After Mary's death (when?), Michael married a Julia Graney/Greany. They had 7 children.

I believe a Mary, John, William, Daniel, Michael & Catherine & Julie emigrated to New Zealand.

Would love to have some dates
Many thanks,
Tiff

I'm interested to know where you got the information if you have no dates to go with the names.

I'm also a bit confused about Michael's first wife.  According to Julia back in May 2006 Michael's first wife was a Nora Leane but you have Mary Lynch?

As to dates, according to the IGI Michael and Julia had a daughter Catherine 20th Nov 1869 (or 1870?)

Also a question for Tootsiepie

You said:  "When doing the parent search don't  forget the full stop after Mau. (Maurice and Mau.  are classed as 2 different names , that's why Daniel isn't grouped with the rest)"

When I tried the parent search I was told "Do not use punctuation" also there were no replies given for Mau or Mau. Angland as father and only Daniel when using Maurice (full name).  I'm sure I had at least one other child before

- have they changed the search criteria?

Jim...
Received the info. through another Angland GenesReunited member I have been corresponding with who received an outline from a Patricia Angland ...married to an Angland but also an Angland by descent. Her grandmother was Catherine (known as Kathleen Mary) and her husband's grandfather Michael-both children of Michaels Senior's second family. I have asked for her email address so that I may contact her.
Thankyou Jim for Catherine approx. date.

Would love to hear from Julie as no doubt she has records which will sort out  Norah Leane/Lynch.......unless of course they are another Angland family.

Must get this sorted before my son & his family go to Cork in Sept. as he is very interested & would love to meet some of the family but unfortunately their time will be limited.

Jim...thankyou for replyingwould love the Norah Leane/Lynch sorted out.

Believe Julie has the answer.
regards,
Tiff
