Hi Guys

A bit of info on Zebeedee

This Zebedee Peskett was christened 11/12/1811 (IGI) in Billinghurst and he was the son of Edward and Susunna.

Edward/Edmund on the IGI was christened in 06/4/1772 in  Wisborough Green and his parents were listed Richard and Sarah.

There seems to be no marriage listed Richard and Sarah so there is a possibilty that the parents may be in fact Richard Peskett and Mary Goacher that were married 10/10/1771 in Billinghurst.

hope this of help to someone

Hi  I have found these posts very heplful.  My ancestor is Sampson (Samson) Peskett married to (E)loisa Bright.  My line links to Frederick Christened 31 March 1839.

Interestingly my line is from Canada as Frederick Louis Peskett born in 1867 and Minnie Peskett were sent to Canada as "Home Children" after their father died in 1875 and their mother in 1876.  I am busy filling in the gaps and this is all very helpful.   I have tracked down the ship and the "Care Society"

Still a mystery why a large Sampson family did not take in the 8 and 6 year old children of Frederick but we are piecing things together.

Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone,

I recognised the Peskett surname when this thread reappeared recently.

I have been researching a family in Billingshurst.  The 'husband' I have been investigating was found guilty of receiving stolen goods in the 1840's and was transported to Bermuda where he died shortly after landing, as a result of illness that developed as a result of the conditions on the ship.  He had made a diary which survived.

There is some correspondence between members of this family and the Peskett family (who were related through the Gosling's) and also correspondence from Puttocks) that is available through the East Sussex Record Office.  I have to admit I'm researching on a budget :'( but if anybody is able to obtain copies of any of the correspondence I would be very interested to find out  more :D).

If you would like to know the name of the original family I have been investigating please send me a private message.

- Penny

Hi Dee,

I would think that the England General Board could be a good place at the moment to repost your request as you don't currently know where Susanna came from.  (This conversation you have entered is regarding the Peskett family of Sussex).

In the meantime, Sarah's baptism, in India, plus birthdate is on the IGI at http://pilot.familysearch.org/
She was born about 24 days before being baptised, so I imagine she was born in India.  Her siblings baptisms are there too.

There is also a possible baptism in the county of Gloucestershire, for her husband on the same site, plus details of his parents in his marriage record which is also recorded in the country of India on the same site.  Of course he may have been born in India too.

Good luck and I'll look out for another message from you on the England-General board.
