Marshall, Alfred of Wimbledon. Born in Hackney.
« on: Sunday 30 April 06 09:28 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any ties to an Alfred Marshall who was born in Hackney.  Alfred and his wife, Laura A., can be found in the 1871, 1881, and 1891 as living in Wimbledon, Surrey.  Laura's maiden name was Wheeler.  They had at least one son, Charles.  Regards, Towaninnie. Australia.

You didn't mention what year he was born. On 1837online search of 1861 census there is an Alfred Marshall age 0 born Hackney. I have no connections but just thought I would check as I had the page open at the time. Good luck in your research.

Good point!  I'm guessing 1866 based on the fact that he was 25 in 1891.  Regards, Towaninie.

No family ties, but I live in Wimbledon and can tell you that 4 Princes Road is still there. A 3-bed terraced house in a nice middle class area, then and now. The house was built at the turn of the century, so would have been quite new when they moved in.

I wonder how they squeezed all that lot in?
