« on: Saturday 29 April 06 13:30 BST (UK) »
Jane Laws death 1855 Portsea 2b ???     image no 27

Can you read the page number?

http://content.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=8966&path=1855.Q2-Apr-May-Jun.L.27&sid=&gskw=&cr=0

Can't seem to print the page out to scan.  Is this normal with ancestry or is it me ?

Thanks for any help

27 and the last digit I think is 7 (although it could be 9 or 1)

The last digit is a 9 or 7, going by the other numbers on the page.
I had no bother printing it - could you try saving it and then print it from your saved image.

It looks like 279 to me.  If you look at the "9" for the one above, you can just about make out the tail end of it.

Hope this helps

2b 279.

Notice how the last number is longer than the 7 before it.

It is a 9. Take a look at how the 9 is formed in the entry against Hannah Kelso.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

I thought it might be a 9.  Perhaps I'll risk it.  ONLY another £7 to waste.

Gadget do you pay for Ancestry?  I haven't paid and am getting BMD free.  I tried saving it but it still will only print the first 4 names.  I'll try again sometime.

Thank you everyone

Ancestry displays the census and BMD images as lots of images.  For example, for a BMD index page they may have 2 images wide by 4 images high.  If you open an image editing program, go back onto the BMD image, press print screen, and then paste the image onto a new file in the image program, you will have a screenshot of your desktop.  Then using the tools your image editing program has, you can crop the image, and then save it.
