Boyd Family Tree
« on: Saturday 29 April 06 02:25 BST (UK) »
My theory is that if I ask a lot of different questions, someone out there will have an answer to one of them !So, Boyds of Carrickfergus ?James, late 1700's, a recurring family name, showing up generation after generation, also lots of Davids, Williams & Thomas's.Straid & Ballynure recur as placenames, and they marry into the Weatherup family from time to time, farmers and mariners(unsurprising, given the location !) Eagerly awaiting answers, make my day!!
 Regards, Coral

Steve, My Boyds & Weatherups seem to have been mainly in farming or marine related occupations, and have been located in Carrickfergus, Straid, Ballynure,Ballyboley and Slievetrue.David Boyd,1890, David Snr,1857,Thomas Boyd,abt1870 & James Boyd, abt 1795(going back throgh the bloodline), & on the Weatherup side, from David, abt 1780,Samuel,abt1800,David,1832.Thomas, 1865, with Boyds & Weatherups intermarrying on a few occasions. Is this kind of information you mean ? Regards, Coral
PS There is a 20yr old Thomas Boyd at the Battle of Trafalgar who I long to claim, but not all Carrickfergus Boyds are mine, & I mustn't be greedy!!(or not until I have proof of a connection, anyway ! If anyone has details on him I'd love to hear about him)

I'm sure some of my Boyds would have been Liverpudlians, as you say, the connection betyween Belfast & the Pool is strong, but those names & dates aren't obvious connections for me, I'll have a more extensive trawl later when I have time. Thanks for your response, have a great weekend, Coral

Hi Folks

Stevenson and I have Boyds in Antrim too - but we need a bit of time to get things together and have a closer look!

I have this strange feeling we are all related on these boards and one day it will all come together! We are all cousins (some more distant than others) no matter our colour, religion or any belief at the end of the day!

I will dig out the Boyds soon ;D

Hi there.....

I have an "Annie Agnes Boyd"...who married into my "Close" family 25 Dec 1895, at Belmont Presbyterian Church in Belfast. Became the wife of Robert Henry Close b. 16 Jan 1870, as such I "assume" she would be around the same age...Have not applied for their marriage certificate as of yet so I don't have her fathers name....of interest tho.... their daughters were named after other family members ie: Susannah Headley Close, Margaret Hedley Close  (our Line),   so once again I assume the "Agnes Hag(g)an Close", Annie, & Nellie  would probably come from the Boyd side of the family as we have no Aggie's, Annie's or Nellie's in our line....

All the Best

I have trawled through the graveyards on micro fiche for you and you say now that  you have found them..........................so thats great..........lots of them seem to have left wills...........so you maybe able to find out more information by finding a particular persons will that is most intrest to you...PRONI ..will have these.

If you goggle "Boyd genealogy"  you will find a site just for Boyd's

Wendy..... as you are a Close and Agnes and Nellie in your tree...think your rellies must have come from Carnmoney area much like ours.

Liverpool lass

I always thought all roads lead to Rome.....until I started my rellie hunt.........they now all lead to Ireland ;D...bet our families cross in 1750's
