Burlingham (+Marjoram)- 1841 census?
« on: Thursday 27 April 06 18:32 BST (UK) »
Which enumeration district should I be looking in for Burlingham? I've tried to find my ancestors in the Blofield pages but with no luck.

I'm looking for Mary and Joseph Marjoram (b. abt.1780) - they appear in the 1851 census - as do their children - Robert, James and John - but I can't find any trace of them in the 1841 census. There seem to be a lot of mistranscriptions and names that haven't been transcribed at all.

Thanks for any help.

Burlingham is in the Blofield Hundred. It may pay you to check the Walsham Hundred too though if you can't find the Parishes on the Blofield disc.

Us Norfolk Dumplings never abide by the rules!!!

Best of luck.  If you can't find what you are looking for, get back to me.

Fantastic Dave! Thanks.

That's them - shame there's no older relative with them to take it a generation further. I'll have to plan a trip to Norwich Records Office.

The transcriptions do seem a bit dodgy on the 1841 census - I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to be able to edit the information if you know it to be wrong - such as they have on Wikipedia or IMDB.
