Hi, all I have is that the parents of Agnes McGilly are William and Mary Monroe. I downloaded the civil birth record for Agnes and also the marriage record for her and Constantine McMullen, my husbands great-grandfather from the Irish History Foundation. Would it be possible if you could let me have some info on William & Mary and their family, thanks Debbie

Ok sorry about the confusion. I think I am following you now. So your husband's grandfather was married to a McGilley. I will pull my book and see what info I can get for you. I will be back in touch soon. My great grandfather was John McGilley who was Agnes' brother.

Can you give me the date of birth for Agnes? It appears the family may have had two daughters both named Agnes. I have a record for one Agnes but sadly she died shortly after birth. I have come to learn that back then the family's often reused the names.

That is wonderful! I had no idea they had another Agnes. My great grandfather was born in Lurgan a few years earlier than Agnes. I will work on all of this tonight and be back in touch soon.

William McGilley was born in 1834. He was the son of Leachlan and Sarah(Broadley) McGilley. William's brother Francis McGilley died on May 9, 1856. According to his death certificate his parents Leachlan and Sarah were both deceased at the time of his death. His borther William was listed as a witness on the death certificate.
William married Mary Munro on March 4, 1859. They lived in Old Monkland Scotland. Mary was the daughter of Daniel and Agnes (Kelly) Munro. Agnes died on December 14, 1858 at age 60. She was born in 1798 and would have been 40 when she gave birth to Mary! Agnes' father was Anthony Kelly.
William and Mary's first child was born on September 10, 1859. Agnes McGilley only lived for 14 months. She died on November 4, 1860. Their second daughter Sarah was born Feb 17, 1861 and died of Scarlet Fever on August 4, 1861. Mary McGilley was their third daughter born on December 4, 1862 and Ann McGilley was their fourth daughter born December 29, 1864.( Ann McGilley's family is residing in Ireland and we have been in touch and have worked on some of this geneology together.)
Ann McGilley married James Blaney on November 27, 1886 in Seagoe Armagh Ireland and died on August 11, 1944 in Armagh.
We don't know when the family moved from Scotland to Ireland but we found a record to show William and Mary had a son William born in July 1866 in Lurgan. Daniel McGilley was born in 1870 and according to your records Agnes was born in 1871. John McGilley (my great grandfather was born in 1882).
