I've seen a report on the 1841 release on the BBC1 lunchtime news and I've jst received an email from Ancestry informing me of the release.  Bit late, I spent the weekend on it!!!

Ancestry still haven't emailed me yet.

I have found most of the key people now, the task is to resolve some problem issues, probably minor errors I have made. The most difficult part is the Lee family in Yorkshire  there are lots of Goerge and John Lee's, and if Goerge by any chance remarried, itwould be a tad difficult to find him

Seems to me that without birthplace, you recognise people with common names by having known relatives with them

I finally got an email from Ancestry about this today, - rather amusing as I've been looking at it since last week! (And have already found some mistakes:-).

N.B.
Just spoke to the main office at Ancestry on the phone, apparently they are having serious system problems thanks to the announcements in the press over the 1841 Census, they have been bombarded with hits as a result so don't be surprised if you have trouble getting on for the next day or so.

Apparantly Parish Registers are next on their list, - although the indexing of the early registers should make for interesting reading, as the majority of their transcribers are Chinese:-)

Romilly.
