I have seen many mistakes, usually the same ones over and over again.  In some cases, where there is a single slash indicating another family group/servants in the same house, they count it as a new house.  Also, in some cases they are under a different parish to usual.  I was searching for someone in Greetland.  It usually comes under Greetland, Elland or Elland cum Greetland in the civil parish field.  However in the 1841 it came under Halifax, which threw me for a bit.

I've been able to find many of my ancestors on the 1841 already, I just need to dig deeper.  For all I know, their parents could be on there too.

For the record, my GGGGGG Grandparents are on the 1851 census :)

I'm finding some of it very hard to read.  I have found my Tiplady family in Luton, but apart from a couple of names, it is so faded I can't read it.  Shame as there are two extra people on it than 1851 - either children that may have died or something more exciting!  Can read parents and two children, but even the transcribers gave up on the rest! ???

If anyone has better eyes it's HO107/4/24 f10 p14!

Hi Tracy

I still can't get anything up for my main area of interest but I was able to see your Tiplady's in Luton and I agree the images are very poor - I was able to read only a couple of names too.

It'd be interesting to know how these compare with copies of the 1841 which some Rootschatters already have on disc. I have some images for some Lancashire ones which I've saved from a pay-per-view site but I'm unable to compare them at present because  they're just not coming up on Ancestry yet.

Marie.

Do you think this is the reproduction or the originals that are so faded?  I suppose the transcribers work from reproductions so have the same problems as us?

By the way, thanks to this thread for highlighting the 1841 was available - I didn't know until I read it this morning.  Even then, when I went on the Ancestry there was no obvious sign of it, although now it has appeared on the home page.

Had some great successes already, and some major surprises that I hadn't expected in a million years.  It's amazing how some things can just knock you for six. :(
Currently engaging in a one-name study of the Twyman surname.

Golding, Twyman, Kennard, Wales (Kent).
Berks, Challinor (Staffordshire).
Wakely. (Glam & Monmouth).

Found a few already with parents names which I didn't have before so that's a good start though I still can't find my Great x 3 Grandad, John Price from Liverpool.

Tried every one that came up and still can't find him. Even his wife, who I am sure he had married by then, doesn't show up

Biggest surprise was finding West derby, Liverpool listed under Salford!

Oh well back to the searching in a few mins. Just need to rest my eyes from all that difficult to read writing

Good Luck to everyone else who is looking as well
