Thanks Chui

It is apparently there with the other years in the UK Census Collection on the Ancestry site - the year comes up but whoever I search for just isn't found even those I've already seen on 1841 elsewhere. Looks like I'll just have to be patient which isn't in my nature!

Regards

Marie.

Hi Marie,

Don't want to teach grandmotehr to suck eggs (or something liek that) but have you tried changing the spelling? In 1851 onwards one of my ancestors has same spelling, but in 1841 it changes, yet it's defo him as rest of family are same throughout,

LEE(Kent),
DALE(Sussex),

Hi Mark

It's always worth checking even obvious things but yes I did try different spellings and several different surnames (including smith and jones even though I don't have them in my family tree) without success.

In the past I've found Hatchell as Matchell, Connolly as Elly and Hunley, Conley, Conoly, Connelley etc etc.

I'll go off and have another go on Ancestry now.

Cheers

Marie.

Frustrating but didn't find the first 3 families I looked for, I did later find the first gt gt gt g'father at home but gt gt gfather away, have to find him yet , just maybe he might be with more rellies (only 9 yrs)

Anyone else find the search ares difficult
I want (for example) to search for someone in Marple
I have to enter Stockport, then when you look at each page, you can see where it is.

Tonight will try to find more of family in Yorkshire - mostly Lee family so hard to find.

Don't you find it even harder in an area where you are not very familiar with local geography

Does anyone know if it has full coverage?

There are bits missing. For example in Middlesex:

Piece 668    Middlesex
    Township: West Finsbury
    Township: Golden-Lane
    Township: Old Street
    Township: Whitecross-Street

Piece 680   Middlesex
    Parish: Paddington
    Parish: Kensington (part)

Piece 690    Middlesex
    Parish: Blatherwycke
    Parish: Bulwick
    Parish: Bulwick Short Leys
    Parish: Deene
    Township: Brompton
    Township: Kensall Green (part)

It's only to be expected that some pages got lost or destroyed. Shame about Paddington.  :-\

It makes absolutely no difference what I type in - any name, any county - exact or ranked - nothing at all for 1841. I'll give up until I get an email from Ancestry.

I've been struggling to find it...have had a quick try and it seems to be working OK.
