Underwood/Astle Chester
« on: Sunday 23 April 06 21:40 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information about Nathaniel Underwood b. 1797, in Gratwich, Staffordshire, and Martha Astle b. 1828, in Barrow, Cheshire. They lived in Chester, Cheshire mostly, but they did live in Winwick, Lancashire around 1850. Their children were Joseph, Mary, William (my g- grandfather), John, Hannah, James, Henry (I have information about him), Harriet, Nathaniel and Francis. Although I have basic information I would like to know more about them and their family. I think one or two died as children.
Nathaniel and Martha were married in Shotwick in 1849, they were living in Woodbank at this point.
I would like to know the whereabouts of Nathaniel in particular around the time of the 1841 census.

Thanks

Not as far as I know-that doesn't mean that he wasn't though!! In the 1851 census he was listed as the toll bar collector at Winwick. In later censuses he was listed as a shoemaker and working in a dairy. He died in 1875.

I have a Martha Astle in my tree but she was born in 1773 in Aldford.
