Hi Veebareeba,
I would think anyone researching anywhere in Derbyshire would do well to have a look at this site - it was one of the sites recommended by SOG at the 'Who do you think you are Live' show on Sunday.
www.wirksworth.org.uk
There's loads on this site - it might look a bit daunting, and busy, but it's loaded with goodies.
Good hunting.
Kind regards,
 Paulene :)

I have ancestors from Flash - The Heapy family and I also have the Quarnford MIs and the Moss family features several times - can you tell me any more about your John Moss. ? Flash is definitely in Staffs- well it is now.  One of my Heapy ancestors married at Alstonefield a spinster from Hartington - it is not so far across the fields.

Hi
I know you have been doing extensive research on John Moss in Flashand I wondered if you had come across any of the following people.

My GGGGrandmother was Prudence Moss Born in Flash about 1821. The 1841 census shows her living in Macclesfield, Cheshire and in 1843 she married Matthew Henshall Agnew (born Macclesfield about 1821). She had a sister Elizabeth Moss also born in Flash about 1827 who was living with her in Macclesfield in 1851.

I will keep a lookout for your John Moss but I am just a a beginner so don't hold your breath.

Hi there Jeannie
And a very warm welcome to rootschat
You will get a lot of help on this site
So keep posting!

I do not have anyone named 'Moss' in my tree - but I do have the Quarnford Monumental Inscriptions Book - in which a number of people named Moss are mentioned. This will be people buried at Quarnford - so if your Moss's moved on I guess they could be buried in Macclesfield ?

If you have anyone named Moss who may have died and been buried at Quarnford - let me know and I will look it up.

There is also a historical society at Alstonefield and I have their address if anyone needs it.

Have you visited the area ever?

It is very pretty

best wishes
Mog

My Gt Gt Gt grandmother Sarah Slack married a James Moss in 1829 she was born in Flash but he was born in Middlewich Cheshire his father is "unknown" so I'm guessing my Moss family tree stops there  :( Sarah's family I cant seem to find anything about either  >:(
