If he died in hospital/nursing home would they have record of undertakers who dealt with the body? Can you contact informant on death cert?  If they registered death probably organised funeral etc.

Might be worth letter to local papers to see if person still around if moved from address on cert.

hello migky
on the death certificate it should state were he was resident at time of death and the relationship of the person who registered his death, if he was found dead at home for instance a policeman could have registered his death or the coroner and the local coroners officer in salford would have tried to find relatives, if no relatives are found, he may have been cremated, but his ashes should still be retained by the crematorium,or the funeral director unless instructed to scatter his remains in a garden of remembrance.
if you contact the crematorium office for the area in which he was living, they maywell be able to give you information on the funeral director and what happened to his remains

if he died at home and his death was sudden, he would have had to have a post mortem (by law) hence he would have been taken to the mortuary in the area in which he lived, once the body is removed from the mortuary a funeral director has to sign the mortuary book, so he is tracable via a funeral director, and if he was cremated a record is kept at the crematorium, who the funeral director was and the date of cremation and whether the ashes are to be retaned for collection by the funeral director.
if there was no money available and there was no one to arrange his funeral and he died at home, the local council will arrange the funeral and expences, if he died in hospital then the hospital bereavement department arrange the funeral
