Does any one need a chalenge,I'm looking for my Great Grand parents, the only info I have is Mary Agnes Cochran B: arond 1831 in County Cork, I only have her Father John ( no Birth details & no info on his wife ) Mary married Henry Francis Francis in 1853 in Australia. Henry B : around 1830 in Frome Somerset England. I really hope ome one may be able to give a hand Please, or may be give me some advice where to look.     Thanks Desperate Alice of Australia.

Hello Alice,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
