British Subject born in Germany
« on: Tuesday 18 April 06 10:52 BST (UK) »
Hi, On the 1881 census my ancestor Christian F Stout aged 62 years was stated to be a British Subject born in Germany.

He married a scottish girl Elizabeth Elizabeth Barber in April 1846 in Glasgow.  They later moved to Liverpool.

I am desperately trying to get back a generation but do not have any idea how to proceed.

I have looked on the German section of Family Search but without success.

Can anyone point me in the right direction  as to how I might proceed please.

Hi

1837 online ( www.1837online.com ) has a section on births of British subjects, born abroad. You could try that.
