Both surnames Sherman and Gilmore are still found in Seagoe parish today.

Information I have is from the Seagoe Parish records, which I got from the church office when I visited in 2001.   My Maria COLLINS, m John SHERMAN, 22 June 1882.  John's father was George SHERMAN, Sand seller.  My John SHERMAN died 29 Dec 1889 aged 35.  His son John was born 8 May 1890.  There were older children - Elizabeth, George, Lucinda Maria.

Your William SHERMAN and Martha GILMORE, m 20 Nov 1860, both 27, bachelor and spinster, occupations - weavers, both of Edenderry.  Fathers were George SHERMAN, Grocer and John GILMORE, Farmer.

A George SHERMAN, 50, widower, grocer, Edenderry married on 8 November 1860 Mary MOORHEAD, 46, single, grocer, Seagoe.  Her father was James MOORHEAD, Farmer. George SHERMAN aged 50 has his father listed as George SHERMAN, Weaver.


An Ann SHERMAN of Edenderry died aged 60 on 16 April 1860.

An Annie SHERMAN was born to William and Martha SHERMAN of Edenderry on 21 April 1862 - occupation of William - Labourer.

A George SHERMAN of Edenderry aged 102 died 26 Nov 1854
A George SHERMAN of Edenderry aged 75 died 23 April 1891
A Mary SHERMAN of Edenderry aged 76 died 22 May 1895

YOur James Moorhead, born himself in Edenderry as was his brother Joseph about 1815 -1818, Son of either James or Thomas and Mary Ralston,  married himself to Sarah Nimmo. They had but 3 kids. Mary, Thomas, and I will have to look up the 3rd one. I think it to be William. This my line. Contact me.

Did you figure out if Martha and Annie Sherman were sisters? 

I have traced my family from Scotland back to Martha Gilmore and William Sherman as well but my line then continues to Annie Sherman.
