Hello again
I was rather  hoping to find
William Spilman born 1821 Messingham ?,
parents John and Sarah
plus any other siblings.
Quite a few lived in the villages I previously mentioned and then spread about on the farms, some owned their own farms.
It seems the Spilman name is far more common than I originally thought so I need to go back to the drawing board again.
Many thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.

regards

Ages were rounded down, so this one looks likely ...

1841 Messingham
HO107/640/17 folio 41 page 22
Elizabeth Walker, 30, Y
William Spilman, 15, miller, Y
Joseph Teaney, 20, joiner, Y

Obviously not with his parents.  The only John Spilman I can see is aged 5, so perhaps William's father was dead?  Does this mean that his mother was the grocer in Akborough?

Cheers
Dave

Many thanks Dave, I did find William married on the 1851 so it looks as if it might all connect up.

Thank you for taking the trouble to help me, much appreciated

I've done a bit on the SPILMANs in the past; they occur in my cousin's tree.

I believe William 1821 was the son of John SPILMAN 1799-1864 and Sarah BENSON 1802-1890

SPILMAN William (1821-)
SPILMAN Ann Elizabeth (1823-)
SPILMAN John (1826-1877)
SPILMAN Benson (1828-1828)
SPILMAN Sarah (1831-)
SPILMAN Catherine (1833-)
SPILMAN Richard Benson (1835-1836)
SPILMAN Hannah (1838-)
SPILMAN Maria Benson (1841-)
SPILMAN Robert (1844-)

I don't seem to have the surname of William 1821's wife (Mary c1822 Wrawby) but I have found the following children (in censuses I think, so ages might be slightly out).

SPILMAN Samuel (1845-)
SPILMAN Sarah J (1847-)
SPILMAN William (1849-)
SPILMAN James (1850-)
SPILMAN Charlotte (1853-)
SPILMAN Mary E (1856-)
SPILMAN Herbert C (1858-)
SPILMAN Alice C (1865-)

My cousin is descended from Mary E 1856 who married Thomas MUSSON.
