Lloyd - Cannock
« on: Sunday 16 April 06 10:54 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on the family called LLOYD who lived in St John's Road Cannock.
I am interested in JOB LLoyd Snr, Thomas Bevan Lloyd (Killed WW2 buried in Australia) Job Lloyd jr, Frederick Arthur Lloyd.  The family at one time lived in 77 St John's Road.  Job owned the Post Office/Paper shop at one time opposite the Crystal Fountain

Thanks in advance

Hello Shifter,
Can you put some approximate years to your information as this would help anyone searching a lot especially if you have anything that is 1901 or before?

My great-grandfather Job, I believe from from the Black Country, My grandfather Frederick Arthur Lloyd was born on 13 December 1906, I guess his siblings were born before WW1.  So to answer your question (I thank you for talking the trouble to reply) I am looking up to and including the early 1970s

There is one branch of the family still living in St John's Road - I have these covered

Job                 son   s20  Coal Miner Hewer  Hemonsley Warwick
Ernest            son   s15  pit lad below         Five Ways Cannock
Frederick        son     12  school                          "

I am not sure about the birth place of Job, the transcript has it as Handley, Warwickshire.  Hope that this helps.

Thanks Rob, I have that Census entry.  My father does not recognise any of the names on your/my list.  I seems as if the family moved into St John's Road after the 1901 census.  I have copies of the census for the whole of St John's Road - so it looks as if I will have to cast my net further

Many thanks for trying

Many of these names are familiar and I'm sure I can give you some information.
Can you tell me what your interest is?
Thanks

It may be that Thomas Bevan was born in 1923 and bore his mother's maiden name:

Sep 1923   Lloyd    Thomas B    Bevan
Registered at Cannock 6b, 847

Ther's a birth for Frederick Arthur at Cannock in 1906.
There's a Job Amos Llloyd registered in 1903 at Walsall (not far away).

Quite a gap between these and Thomas Bevan though.

His parents marriage is most likely:

Mar 1904 Cannock 6b, 624
Bevan Martha
Lloyd    Job

but that post-dates the Job Amos birth above.

Enough to go on? :)
