Hi Diddy,
I forgot that I had looked up monumental inscriptions on the Fife Family History site and I came across 4 locations where Simes are buried, no christian names (1) Simes buried in Auchterderran lairs 18 and 4a, (2) Simes buried in Collessie in lairs 17 & 40, (3) Simes buried in Logie in lairs 15 & 13 (4) Simes buried in Newburn in lairs 18, 29, 43, 80, 81, 82, 89, 94, 95, and 96.
I would appreciate it if you could look up these cemeteries and check for any James Sime/Syme/Sym/ Sim.
Collessie is right next to Monimal.

Hi Diddy and Norrie,
Thanks once again Diddy for the info on the Collessie burial and you can "but in" anytime Norrie. Thanks to you too for your help in the Sime burials, I deeply appreciate both of your help. I think these Simes stem from the same Root, there were 450 people in Letham and about 75 people in Monimal round about the 1830s and the same small population quotient would aply to the hamlets of Collessie and Auchterdrerran etc. I think you have both found my links to Fife through the Sime family.
Kind regards,

#sholto.

Hi Norrie,
thanks for your input, my 2Xs gt grandfather was John Sime/Syme, he died in Stirlingshire in 1868 and according to his Death Cert, he was 59 years old (born 1809/10). His father`s name is given as James Sime/Syme and his mother was Elizabeth MS unknown.
I looked him up on the 1851 census on Freecen and according to that he was born in Letham Fife and he was 41 years old. I downloaded a copy of the 1861 census from Scotlandspeople and according to that he was 51/52 years old and he was born in Monimal Fife.
Diddy found a James Sim Ploughman died in 1857 aged 73 buried in Monimal, (Born 1784) he was married, but Diddy didn`t mention his wife`s name, it might not have been carved on his headstone?
James Sim is an ideal candidate for my 3Xs gt grandfather as he would only have been 26 years old when my 2Xs gt grandfather John Sime was born and they both lived in Monimal Population approx 1,000 in 1830.
You mentioned that you have some photographs of Headstones, I would be grateful if you could send me some especially if you have one for James Sim from Monimal.
Kind regards,

#sholto.

Hi Shaoto
A survey was made of Headstones in Monimal Cemetery by John & Sheila Mitchell
And published in 1971 under Monumental Inscriptions East Fife

There is no Listings for SIME / SYME so therefore I dough if there will be a headstone there for James SIME.

I have photos of all the inscriptions I posted for you
If you wish Photos  tell me what ones you want and
send me a PM with your Email so I can send direct

Hi Norrie,
Diddy sent me information on Tuesday 22/2/11 in regards to a record she downloaded from Scotlandspeople for a James Sim, Ploughman, married, died 27/6/1857 , aged 73 (B. 1784) both parents deceased (no names)  BURIED IN MONIMAL ?
I don`t know where she got the information on the burial but I suspect it would be on the Death Certificate, I have some of my relatives Death Certificates where the burial place has been recorded on the certificate.
I would appreciate it if you would look up the name "Sim" the shortened version of Sime/Syme in your records for a burial in Monimal to see if there is a James Sim buried in Monimal.
Kind regards,

#sholto.
