Hello there Diddymiller
Have dug into the Mounts from Cupar again.
Thomas Mount b. 1802 did he have any siblings?
His wife, Mary Herries Shepherd (sheephird etc.?) her father, Peter b. 1756 married Ann Ramway b. 1779  Did she have any si blings?
I have been puzzled by the Mount surname - no clan tartan nor trace
of other Mounts seem available.
Your increased golden stars have been noted with wonder - how amazing.
Nice to be in touch again.   Dorene. 8) 8)

Hi Dorene - i stand amazed at them myself and think what a gabby person i must be  ;D

have found this about the Mount surname:

This surname is of pre 7th century Old French origins. It was introduced into England at the Norman Conquest of 1066, and is a residential name either for someone who lived at a place called Mont or Mount, or topographical fro a person who lived on a hill

Read more: http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Mount#ixzz17F5i7R00

this could explain why it doen't have a tartan (i take your word for that).

did we have Thomas's parents? am rechecking the fife index now for other mounts. - did i send you a list before?

I would be really pleased if you could check whether there are any Duffs shown for Kingskettle. My ancestors lived up the hill at Hill of Kettle and Annfield and so I assume any burials would have been in Kingskettle. I am particularly looking for David Duff who died between 1841 and 1851. I am totally stuck with him (can't even find who his parents were) so if there are any other Duff burials shown I would be very interested indeed. Many thanks, Alex.

Him there is nothing in the MI's and the fife death index pre 1855 only has:

George Duff 3/3/1840 10m  kettleHill

jean Duff  30/11/1746  c70  kettle Mill

if i just put in David Duff no place there are 18 records only 2 between 1841 -1851:

David Duff  6/9/1841 age 63 Kilconquhar, Largoward,  died at Edinburgh

David Duff  17/9/1841 age 74 Kilconquhar
