I hope this thread is still active....I am new to rootchat ...just a few days old and trying to catch up to all the postings!

I hope it's still possible to get a lookup- hoping to find the burial places of the following:

Alexander Easton/Eiston b 17 Jun 1804 Abbotshall, Kirkcaldy d. 1890 Leith, Edinburgh
wife Margaret Simpson b. 1806 Kirkcaldy
children: Margaret b. 1825 Dysart
              James b 1827 Dysart
              Alexander b. 1834 Dysart
              John b. 1836 Dysart
              Elizabeth b. 1838  d. before 1851 Dysart
              David b. 1840  Dysart d. 1893 Lochee
              Helen b. 1846 Abbotshall, Kirkcaldy
              Andrew b. 1846 Kirkcaldy
              Henry b. Kirkcaldy

My guess is that most of them are buried in Dysart somewhere but no idea where.  Would they be listed in the index?

Any help at all would be wonderful......MJ

The vast majority of burial index material is PRE 1855, so unless any of your Easton children died young they are unlikely to be in the index.
All countries/counties
Kinnes, Ostler (and all variations!!)

Scotland
Caithness: Sutherland and Gunn (Latheron), Mowat (Olrig, Canisbay)
Fife: Fleming, Harley, Small, Laing, Malcolm
Angus/Forfarshire: Small, Laing (Dundee)
Perthshire: Runciman, Whittet, Paul, Small
Midlothian: Dudgeon, Sanderson (Tranent)

England
Gloucestershire: Edkins, Trowton/Troughton
Warwickshire: Bromley, Vickers, Hydon

as ostler says - the MI's and the burial index are pre 1855 but having a look anyway..

if they are after 1855 your best bet is scotlands people. it is a pay to view site but the indexes are free  to use.

Thanks anyways Diddy.... back to the drawing board to find out where they went to!  Seems like the Scottish side of my family was almost nomadic!!  Joking - I have read the history and strange laws of the time so I understand WHY they moved so much.   Just wish they could have left a note on the table saying where they were moving to!!

Yes, I have been a little busy....driven actually..... have been doing genealogy research for over 20 yrs, have my father`s side back 400 years + but my mother`s side in Scotland has been my brick wall the whole time.  Hence when I happened on RootChat I am here finding as much as I can instead of sleeping.   It`s 2 am here now and I have to be awake and on the road in the morniing!! LOL   I have found more information in 3 days here than I have in all the attempts I have made over the last 20 years.

RootsChat people are incredible.   Keep up the good work.   Those of us in Canada can`t tell you how much we appreciate you.

DancingLady - there is no listing in the FCD for them in Boarhills (or MI's)  but there are Robert Lumsdens elsewhere. do you  have any dates to help narrow it down?
