My Whitehaven interest is Candlish. They seemed to be mostly mariners who eventually drifted down to Liverpool.
Findmypast used to be 1837online but as I said I have never actually used them myself so I don't know what they are like

My ancestors were at 23 Colville Place, St Pancras, London in 1861 and the census returns for that page have gone missing. Typical as well. But I know all the details so it would not really tell me much new but knowing my luck there may have been an elderly aunt with them for all I know.

I wonder what happened to those missing pages in terms of losses, either flood, or just mislaid and are hiding in some vault somehwere awaiting to be discovered???

Perhaps this thread is a good place to ask.

When you click on a civil parish in Ancestry, it takes you to the enumeration districts.  If the numbers are not consecutive, should we suspect that something is missing?  Or is this quite normal?

I have just looked for North Harborne, Staffs, which has just two districts, 14 and 16.  Should there be a 15?

I did once ask Ancestry about a similar "missing" district, and was told that they were "not aware of any missing district" (but they would say that, wouldn't they!)

In 2006 (I know a long time ago) you helped someone with reference to missing pages of the census 1861.  I am trying to find family members in 1871 in Plymouth, is it possible that these pages could be missing too?

I've tried accessing the web link that you gave to the other person (shown below) but it doesn't work anymore.  Is there somewhere else I can find out what pages are missing from the census of all years?

The National Archives shows these PIECE #s for 1871 and makes no comment about them being completely or partially Missing or Wanting ...
