« on: Thursday 13 April 06 13:14 BST (UK) »
My GGranda Patrick McGilloway was born on 7/7/1875 somewhere in Donegal.
I'm looking for his birthplace or any details on where he lived before moving to Scotland.

His parents were Patrick and Mary McGonigle.

Arlene + Joseph,

The picture i get is that most of Patrick McGilloway and Mary McGonigle's sons and daughters (don't know how many!) emigrated to the US apart from my Great Grandfather Patrick, who went the wrong way and ended up in Glasgow, Scotland.

I would be interested to find about my US links, if you could provide more info

Dear Brian

Bearing in mind that the John Farren mentioned was a cousin of my grandmother and therefore that I come to it from that side of the house here's what I have:
John & Mary married 2 April 1909 in St. Cecelia's, Boston, MA.
They had the following children:
John J (1909-1909)
Rose (1913- )
Mary (1915- )
James (1917-1988)
They appear to have moved to New York City c. 1910.
I have Mary McGilloway as having been born 9 June 1878 Meedinmore, Malin, Co. Donegal, but you may know better about that.

Regards

Joseph

Hello Brian,
Your grandfather and my wife's grandmother are first cousins. Michael McGonigle was a brother to Mary (McGonigle) McGilloway. Michael, as well as Mary were the Children of Michael and Bridget (McGonigle) McGonigle. Michael came to Boston.

Best,

Michael
