Hi Dan
I wonder if you might be able to help next time you're in the Mass. archives, please?
My Bailey ancestors are from the Galtees area of Ireland, parish of Kilbehenny co.Limerick, and Ballyporeen, co.Tipperary; as nearest large market town is Mitchelstown, they sometimes gave that as the address.
Several emigrated to Rockland, Mass, which I have info on, but my grandfather, Patrick Joseph Bailey went over and returned after a few years.
He possibly went to Brockton initially, before going to live in Manhattan, New York.
Are there any street directories which can be easily searched for Brockton, please?
He was born in 1897, and was definitely living in Manhattan at the 1930 census, and had married Margaret Mary Moher in New York in 1927 (she was from the same area as him, they went over separately it seems to find work, but knew each other before they emigrated).
So I guess he may have been in Brockton about 1925, or slightly earlier. Is there any way of tracking him down relatively easily, do you think? I don't know his year of leaving Ireland even. His Bailey cousins may have been in Brockton in the mid 1920's too.
Many thanks for any advice.
