1841 Census Surname PARISH
« on: Tuesday 11 April 06 18:40 BST (UK) »
My GGG Grandmother Mary Parish is on the 1851 census resident at Furnace Lane Wrockwardine Wood in the Ecclesiastical District Holy Trinity . She is noted as a widow and a pauper aged 47. (dob varies from1801-1804)
Children Sarah 16      Pit Bank Labourer
              Thomas 15   Iron Stone Miner
              Prudence 7   Scholar
All born in Wrockwardine.
Is she on the 1841 census? and if so what was her husbands name  his occupation?  dob and place of birth? (if its there as I know there wasn't much informatio recorded  in 1841)
Hope the above is sufficient to look.
Thanks

Hi

There's not much info on the 1841 as you know but I've found them in Wrockwardine Wood - ED no 4, looks like page 33?

Ages were also rounded into 5 yr age bands for those of 15 and over - i.e. 15-19, 20-24, etc.
All are born 'county'
William Parish 35 Ironstone miner
Mary, 35
William, 11
Thomas - looks like 2 but very faint
Sarah, 7

Just a little aside on this - not sure if it's relevant but I have some ancestors who were Parish from Wrockwardine - 1750s ;D

Sorry that last message was a bit abrupt.   >:(

My Ancestors seem to have originated from Wrockwardin/Wrockwardine Wood per census's and birth certs.

Don't know if you use Genes Reunited but I have put a very basic tree on there which you are welcome to view.

Its under Parrish as this was my maiden name We seemed to have changed from Parish to Par(r)ish about 1900.

I was on GR but did not resubscribe - they kept sending me messages about every Roberts and Jones who was entered  :o

I think I might have put up a bit of  the Par(r)ish line - mine kept changing the spelling as well.

The family moved to the Welsh borders from the Wrockwardine area in the 1770s or 1780s. I have the offspring of a William Parish and Ann Morgan (m. Madeley, Dec 1766). William (1768), John (1770), Thomas (1773) and Elizabeth (1777). All of the sons were coal miners. I am descended from William.

Hi pete
Thanks for that - think you have a similar disk to me  ;D ;D ;D

The last two might be mine or related but mine settled in Halton, Chirk. I haven't looked at that line for a while. I just checked the Wrockwardine ones for this thread. I've got their births right through and the census info.
