Hi Jennifer

Glad that you found that info to be of some use.

Hope you enjoyed your time in Hastings last year, if you come over again to Hastings, let me know - will meet up and give you a guided tour of the area and help you with some further research in the local archives.

In the meantime, am looking out for the Police Records of your John Cripps - but if you need anything else, you know where to find me

Hello Chris - Re Burial Transcriptions -
Could you have a look please for this couple..

THOMAS and JANE CARTER who lived in the St.Anns District of Lewes. Is it likely that they might turn up in any of the three indexes that you have that cover 1865 onwards.

They were both alive in 1865 but both died when their youngest son, born in that year, was a 'young boy'.

I have looked on Free BMD but have yet to find a death entry for either of them.
Thanks, Sue

Hi suey

Have checked the burial registers for All Saints, Lewes and South Maling Lewes - there are no Carters listed in either.

Will look in the Southover Burial Registers when I go to Lewes on Monday (dont have a copy at Home)

Thanks Chris - I would like to know when Thomas and Jane died, William their son was my Grandpa, he died  before I was born.  An Aunt remembers him but says he would NEVER speak about his family, taboo subject.  She suspects he had a rotten time at the hands of an elder brother, we shall never know.
