1851 interesting find is a brother called GEORGE . As James was 1 of 8 children born to William PLAYFORD and Elizabeth RIDLEY and I didn't have a George - So you have given me something new to re search   Where is WARTON?

1841 Thomas PLAYFORD - james did have a bros called thus, however he married a Hannah Auton SHERWOOD. This family sailed off to OZ. Again some more research - thank you again .

If it's not a cheek and too much trouble I'd be interested in the other families of PLAYFORD in Sedlescombe please.

Wartling (not Warton) is between Hooe and Hurstmonceux in Sussex.
In 1851 it had a population of 1,011 people in 175 households, but not one of them contained a Playford.
In 1986 that population had dropped to just 450 people.

I can see your going to be a chap I'll have to get to know, your help will be invaluable. My family roots are very firmly fixed in sussex my grandfather was the last of my PLAYFORD  line born in Sedlescombe in 1914. He joined the police force and in 1937 was posted to Hornsey N8.

I'm told on my grandmothers side her ancestors GLAZE came from France with William the Conqueror in 1066 and that the knights roll include their name then spelt GLAISE. Although i do have documents from the Saxon Chronicles recording the name as far back as 400 ad, but that will be a research when Im a tad older LOL!!

Millers in Westham

Dear Chris

I see you also have a census transcription for East Sussex for 1851.  If Westham is included, could you look up the same miller households again that you very kindly found for me in the 1841.

They are:

Westham Street: Richard Miller, Henry, Sarah (not hopeful that Richard would still be alive!!)
Hancomb/Hankham Street: household including Charles, Caroline, Alfred and George Miller
Hankham Street: household headed by Edward and Sophia Miller.

If there are any other Millers in Westham, please advise also.
