Hardy/Hardie, Douglas.
« on: Sunday 09 April 06 15:48 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on Andrew Hardy and George Hardy. I have searched  the Familysearch and have found only one Andrew born in Perth in 1791. I have no idea when George was born nor are there any Georges in their records for that time period.

The Andrew I did find is listed as the son of William Hardie and Jean Keay and was christened on the 22 May 1791 in Perth.

He married Janet Douglas in Canada in 1821 and she was also born in Perth. The only family I can find for her is Alexander Douglas and Isobel Douglas She was christened on 3 Mar. 1793 in Lobierait, Perth Scotland

Interestingly the only familiar name that was continued down in our family was Isobel. But Andrew's tombstone does say he came from Argyleshire and Janet's death certificate says she came from Perth.

Does anyone know of anyway I can find information on these people

Andrew must have been in the army because he recieved a land grant in Esquesing Twp in Ontario. He also was a foreman on the building of the Fort at Kingston Ontario and was a Stone Smith.

I also believe from some convoluted family information that his family may have been involved in Culloden.

Any infrormation would be welcome

Since I posted the above message I have some more info on Andrew Hardy's family.  Apparently his father's name was Dr. Robert Hardy and he was a presbyterian minister in Aberdeen. Andrew was born, various sources say in either 1762 or 1761. He had a brother George born in 1795, he also had a brother James and a sister Isabel. This is according to the Hardy/Hardie book published in the US.

Andrew and his brother George came to Ottawa in 1810 and then on to Kingston. George was a businessman in Kingston and his wife's name was also Isabella.
They had 3 daughters Jessie, Isabella and Anne. Anne married the Rev Kenneth Mackenzie Fenwick and their son Dr. Kenneth Neader Fenwick became quit a famous Doctor.

Can anyone help me get information on Dr. Robert Hardy in Aberdeen. Thanks
