1841 Census lookup for Staplehurst

Looking for James Waterman born 1818 Staplehurst Kent.

I have no idea of address or parents names.
May have to wait until I can find a wedding certificate for James and continue working back.

Anyway any help would be great.

Kate did great looking at the 1861 census for me.

There are a number of Waterman's in Staplehurst 1841 census.
There is only one James as follows.

Reference H07/475/22 folio 32a

James Waterman, age 20, agricultural labourer, born Kent.
Sarah Waterman, age 20, born Kent.

You will be aware that the 1841 census does not give place of birth, just whether in or out of county. Also ages are rounded to the nearest 5.

Most of Staplehurst has no addresses - only the larger buildings do. But from this information, I can tell you that the about James (whether yours or not) lived in The Quarter. St that time there were only a couple of houses there  and they are what we now call 17 - 19 The Quarter.

I have transcribe the parish register but only up to 1795, I hope to start the next batch shortly so if I come across your James I will let you know.

Not sure if it helps - I presume the James you found was married to Sarah.

I need to look into this further. ie more certificates to find out if my James was married to Sarah first?
