I hangover from the days of sixth form and being on yahoo messenger.

I didn't like using my real name on t'internet but didn't want to use something too different so Carrie came into being.

Then there was a bit of a joke about Fanta when I was doing my A-levels

Pretty boring explanation!
Always used my uni login details so that when going back to a site would remember the username! It was only 4 characters long and one site suggested "gtd005" last year to make it up to the 6 required for that site. Since then used this as my default username.
