I am english, but I have been living in Berlin for nearly 33 years, mainly within a german-speaking environment !

There are so many Bobs on most boards, that I decided to be Berlin-Bob, on the grounds that that it would be unlikely to find another family history enthusiast in Berlin, called Bob, who is also on RootsChat and (was on) GenesReunited and ScotlandsPeople (before that forum folded).

And nobody has said "Snap !" yet  ;D

PS On a personal note, I'm intrigued to know why you are Berlin? You don't sound very German!

I am glad she said I don't sound very german. I met my (future) wife here in Berlin. She is scottish, and my english had deteriorated so much by then, that when we went to visit, her Mum said to her,

"his english is very good for a foreigner"

I now speak almost normal english again, and that, by the way, is something else I can thank you to RootsChat for - joining in the various discussions has done wonders for my english !

Good to know, Bob - your English seems fine to me!

And yes, Paul, it's a seashore-type wading bird - pied, because our one is black and white.

I did think the pseudonym really should have been used by my husband, who's very tall - and occasionally pied ...

Quite by coincidence I was emailed a photo of a pied stilt this week, so now you can see what I'm talking about. Hope this works. If there is a great big blank, you'll know it didn't. If it does, you'll see why NOBODY knows what its feet look like.

Stonechat. Your turn to post a pic of a stone bird or a chat bird. Awaited eagerly.
