Hi, I am new to this chatroom so bear with me.  My wife is a WOODAGE & I have her line back, through BMD certiiicates, baptismal & census records to the Berkshire WOODAGES - Charles baptised May 1800 at Yattendon & his parents JOhn & Hannah nee HOPE.  Of Charles's children, William baptised 1831 at Yattendon has a Charles baptised 1882 at East Isley living with him in 1891 & 1901 & is down as a son.  William is trackable through the censuses from 1841.  BUT, if Charles father is John, then he would be the illegitimate son of William's younger brother John who didn't get married until after 1881, trackable through the censuses from 1841, living with wife Sarah in 1891 & 1901.

So, I would really appreciate contact if Pip is researching the WOODAGEs as two heads are always better than one.

Hello,
And 3 heads might be even better.  I have recently found that I have 2 links to the Woodages of Yattendon. One via Jared Woodage son of Charles and Mary Ann nee Johnson and who married Sarah Hamblin, and also their daughter Caroline 1883 who married Thomas Josiah Goodall, son of Charles Goodall and Jane Sellwood.  I have done some research from John Woodage and Hannah Hope but  had got somewhat stuck on William Woodage chr 1830, Jared's brother because on the 1881 birthplaces are just Berkshire and some names are just initials.  The correspondence so far has helped me but perhaps we can further collaborate.
Regards

Hello.
I realise that this comes a long time after the last message posted, but it may still be of interest.  I have transcripts of part of the School Log Book for Bradfield and it mentions various members of the families you are researching.  Most of the entires simply record a child's admission, but others list achievements or punishments.  I have entires from 1866 and 1883-1893 for the following names: Selwood: Ellen, Beatrice, George, Henry, Martha and William.  Woodage: Charles, Charlotte.  Charles is recorded as dying in 1889.  I am happy to look up the log book entries if you are interested or you can see the original log books at the Berkshire Record Office.

Hello,
Thank you so much for your offer of lookups. I cannot get to the BRO to do it myself, and charges for distance research are prohibitive.

Charles William Woodage was Charlotte's brother.

I would be very interested in the School entries for Sel(l)wood. I should imagine all of them will be my kin. From the names I know they are. They were also related to many other Bradfield and Bucklebury families that I have also researched.
How do you want to send them? I will post a private message with my email address if that is the most convenient.
Incidentally, I also went to Bradfield St Andrews School in the early 1950's.
Yours
Vicwinann

Hello Pips,
I have just come across this message again and panicked. If you have followed the information sent re: the 1891 and 1901 censuses you may have followed the wrong Charles Woodage.
Charles Edward 1882 was son of John as you said the marriage cert stated. He married Fanny Jessop in 1901. Is this your Charles? The Berkshire Woodage scions are many and they had the same first names and birth years.
Charles, son of William and Mary Ann Jackson, was registered and baptised plain Charles. He married Louisa Downham in 1903.
Charles Edward, son of John and Mary Heath, was actually born in Surrey. In 1891 he was with his parents in Iver, Bucks.
John and William were distant cousins.
I hope I haven't put the cat amongst the pigeons, but I thought that I had better let you have my information.
Yours
Vicwinann
