I am looking for descendants of Norwegian born Svenson(or Swainson) GRAN. Born about 1787 in Norway and died in London 1852. Married Ann Lisk

Hi.  Unfortunately I have very little information on Svenson. No parents or other details were given on their marriage certificate and on the 1851 it only gave Norway no county or town and then he died shortly after.

I have tried searching on a Scandinavian FH site but those names seemed to be more common in Sweden than Norway.

His trade was a sackmaker in the census, they lived down at Wapping Docks, London. I wondered if he was a seaman perhaps.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm afraid this is going to be difficult, the 1801-census has some 8.500 people with "Sve" in their surname.

One Municipality is Gran in Oppland County with 13 people found by the same search.

The nearest I get is 18-year old farm hand Ole Svendsen at farm Hørgen in Gran, unfortunately this is a bit like looking for the famous needle.....

"Gran" could also be a farm name somewhere else in the country.
