ALBON(E), All
« on: Friday 31 March 06 11:15 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am undertaking a project to try to join all the Albon(e)s together, especially those with roots in Bedfordshire. I have so far databased over 3000 names from the England census', IGI extracted records and parish register transcriptions and would be grateful for any information that anyone may have on Albon(e)s in their family tree, especially if you have any BMD certificates, which will help me verify some of the presumed links I have made.
And of course I am more than happy to help anyone researching their Albon(e) ancestry
kind regards
Denise

Hi Denise,
Just found your post, and wondered if you have an Ann Allebones, that is how it was spelt to me. Yhe other info I have is she was baptised in 1741, married to John Roberts on 16 March 1766. All in the Bedfordshire area I presume. Her daughter Sarah married William Kefford in Eyeworth, 03 August 1809. Sarah is my 2 X gt grndmother. I have not done the research but the person who did, has spent years doing the Kefford line and has his own website.
many thanks
Peter

Hi Denise,
I have an Elizabeth ALIBONE who married Thomas HAKESLEY 3 Oct 1680 in Wolfhampcote Warwickshire, this is close to the Northamptonshire border and some of the HAKESLEY family are found in Braunston NTH.
I Know nothing more other than their 2 children. Does Elizabeth feature in your research by any chance?

Hello Denise.
I am descended from Albons from Arlesey, I have some info gleaned from census records, IGI, BMD & from One World Tree.
I have to do my research on line as I live overseas.
My family goes back via Jonah Albone(e) born in Arlesey in 1860, father Samuel, mother Sarah. (nee Presland I think)
Jonah moved with his sister Emma & her husband Samuel Braybrook(s) to Hucknall Torkard, Notts. in 1872.
Jonah met & married Mizannah Boswell. (a gypsy... but that's another story !)
I have an tree showing Jonah's paternal ancestry as father : Samuel, b abt 1818, d. 1897.  Samuel's parents : James Albon b.1798  & Elizabeth Deveraux b 1797.
James' parents : William Albon b 1768, m.2 June 1792, d 1831. & Anne Pitts b 1780 d 1843.
I cannot verifiy these links however & would be grateful for any light you can shed on any of this !
Please let me know if you want any of the info I have on Jonah (my great great grandfather.) & his offspring.

Pic attached of my Grandma.

Regards
Kay

Dear Blunny & Trees,

Sorry for the delay in reply. I do not have your Ann or Elizabeth on my database as I have not yet included any Allebone, Allibone names.
Blunny, I did however find your Ann's marriage to John Roberts in the IGI, although they are member submitted forms rather than extracted records from the parish registers. The marriage took place in Kempston, Bedfordshire.
the same record has her death as 2/2/1778.
kind regards
Denise

Dear Kay,

Thanks for the pic - a great addition to my collection. I have Jonah and Mizzanah on my database - but I do not know which of their children went on to have Doris and Alonzo in your photograph. I'd be very grateful for any information you have on Jonah & Mizzanah's descendents.

I agree with your ancestry details which I have sourced direct from the Parish register transcripts and put together with the info from the census'.
I have deduced that the parents of William were Edward and Sarah (nee Hillyar) - mrrd Meppershal 5/1/1741.
I have nothing to back this up other than it fits very neatly.
I am sure that Edward came from outside of Arlesey, as there were no Albons in Arlesey prior to 1738.
William had the following siblings
John chr 29/8/1742, dies 18/12/1812
Elizabeth chr 13/5/1744
Edward chr 3/6/1750
Mary chr 26/7/1753
William chr 1/6/1756, buried 22/8/1756
William chr 17/7/1768 aged 9

kind regards
Denise

Hello Denise.  Have recently been concentrating on our Albon family.  We have William  Albon, born 1849 (possibly July) in Arlesey.  His father's name given as William Albon (deceased Straw dealer) on his marriage certificate when he married Annie Mary Alcock in Leicestershire in November 1885.
Our William joined the 4th Hussars at Chatham on 19th July 1869.
After service in India, he was transferred to the Leicestershire yeomanry as Sergeant Major. We understand that they moved to Barking, Essex, when he came out of the army because he had relatives there.  Their children included Albert George, Ada & Elsie.  He worked in a chemical factory.  We think he died in 1902 at the Essex County Asylum, South Weald.
Any information on this family greatfully received!

Dear Yvonne,
I have your William c1849 in my database. I have found him in the 1881 and 1901 census. I have the following children for him
Frederick William - birth registered Jan-Mar 1886, Ashby de la Zouch
Lucy Annie - birth registered Jul-Sep 1889, Leicester
Thomas Percy - birth registered Jul-Sep 1891, Market Harborough
Ada Mary  - birth registered Apr-Jun 1894, Leicester
Elsie Florence - birth registered Jul-Sep 1896, Melton Mowbary
George - brn abt 1899, Barking, Essex
I have no details on Albert - do you have any?

I have been unable to work out who his parents are. It may be that they died whilst he was very young and this is why I can't find him living with his father William in any of the census'. I have also not yet found a birth record of a William born around this time with a William as a father
I have also been unable to find this family in the 1891 census.
Proving to be quite elusive.
Does his marriage certificate give his age at the of marriage?

Interestingly I do have a William Albon that was a straw dealer who moved to Essex, but I have no record of him having a son named William. He did however have a son named Emery born 1850 who dissappears in 1869 after the birth of his son in Mar 1869. Could this be the same person - changed his name and enrolled in the army ( for whatever reason!)
kind regards
Denise

Hi Denise!

Our William Albon married 21st November 1885 aged 34.  Occupation given as Staff Sergeant Major in the Leicestershire Yeomanry based at Ashby de la Zouch.  He married Annie Mary Alcock aged 20  (father William Alcock, Postmaster Ashby de la Zouch).  Family legend has it they ran away together, however her brother John was one of the witnesses.

The 1901 census information you have agrees with what I have - George is Albert George, born 16th January 1899.  He married Ethel Maud Winslade, born 9th Oct 1903, in Romford Registry Office on 27th Feb 1923. George served in WWII & had three children.   His wife died in 1948.  He  died in Devon on 13th Jan 1976.  Apart from that we know little about the Albons.
Would be interesting if he was Emery - can you tell me a bit more about that family?
Kind regards,
Yvonne.
