1891/1901 Lookup Please - Bacon - COMPLETE
« on: Wednesday 29 March 06 18:11 BST (UK) »
I've just received a marriage certificate confirming a marriage of one of my ancestors.  I was hoping someone would do a search of the 1891 and 1901 census for me to confirm the makeup of the family.  Here are the details.  My ancestor, Susannah Ellen Heritage (born 1844 in Clerkenwell) married a Richard Hannant Bacon (born c1850 in Billington, Norfolk) on 09/06/1878 at St. Georges, Middlesex.  On the 1881 census, they live at 209 Southwark Bridge Rd, Southwark.  As I said, can someone please have a look at the 1891 and 1901 census to see if they had any children?
Looking for information on the Heritage Family in Hackney/Mile End/Islington/Clerkenwell/Holborn areas.  Also found I have connections to the Bacon, Bissmire, Checkley, Coe, Cunningham, Day, Delley, Gillott, Nott and White families.

Hi

It looks like your man died.  From Free BMD

Deaths Sep 1888
BACON  Richard Hannant  39  London C.  1c 7

On the 1891 census the person I think is your Susannah is a widow and servant at 32 Harewood Square, Marylebone.  She is aged 46, born Clerkenwell and is a Cook in the household of Annie Withan? Sorry writing is unclear. There is also a parlourmaid.  If you want full details of her employer and the housemaid let me know.

Will check for Susanna in 1901.

Hi Barbara, thanks for finding this for me.  Looks like this branch is going to be very brief.

Hello again

In 1901 at 32 Finsbury Square, Finsbury
Susan Bacon Serv Wid 56 Cook Domestic b London Clerkenwell
She is working in the household of William Benham a clergyman.

I suppose she and Richard may have had children.  They could be with family perhaps?

Thanks again Barbara, for looking a little further.  Yuo may be right that if they did have children, they are probably with family.  I'll keep that in mind as I continue the hunt.

Cheers,
Bigguy
