Hi Ian

2. Bond for Administration to the Effects of Thomas Greenough late of Northampton Carpenter
deceased Dated 5th March 1821.

John Freeman Victualler and Edward Rand Greenough Plumber and Glazier are 2 bounders

(This is interesting Ian)

Ann Linnell/now the wife of William Linnell of the same Town Mother and the bounder
Edward Rand Greenough eldest Brother and next of Kin .

Both John Freeman and Edward sign.

Obviously a lot more is said so this is just drawing off the important bits.

Now it is time for tea and finishing of my Easter Bags (will show you a piccy when I have done)
as the last one is Thomas of 1811 (father to Edward and Francis we now know for sure  ;D)
the 3 page Will.

WOW WOW WOW !
I have come across this Edward Rand Greenough a few times ! and thought what a strange name LOL ! didnt think he was related, but now i know he is and that Thomas is my 4 X Gt Grandfather !
I have come across this Plumber and Glazier before but not sure untill i look which ones it is, Clearly that is following in the family as is the Bakers. which Francis was in Bridge St.
So we can also tell from this and the grave stone in St Seps that his wife was Ann and she remarried to William Linnell.
So Edward Rand Greenough is the brother to Thomas.
And if i got this right then Thomas had a son called Thomas who died in 1837 ?

Taken from Alan Clarks marriage Inded
Thomas Greenough of All Saints to Ann Wood otp 15th May 1792 St Sepulchre By Licence
when Thomas died and if he married at the age of 21 then he would not be much older then 50 when he died

Also Edward Rand Greenough of St Seplulchre  married Ann Freeman otp 10th March 1814 St Giles.
So there is the Freeman Connection. so Ann must be the daughter of John Freeman Licensed Victualler
The IGI has quite a lot of the kids of Edward Rand Greenough  ;D

Also noted from my Transcript that on Thomas Greenough`s grave it says __ 5
so he could of been 55 or 65 when he died which give us the date between 1756 to 1766 also noted from Alan Clarkes Marriage index
Thomas Greenough  of All Saints to Ann Rans of All Saints 26 Jul 1733 taken from St Peters BTs
Bet you that Ann is Ann RANDS ! so Edward RANDS Greenough comes from his Grandmothers maiden name ! and Thomas after his father of course ! And that tradition of middle names coming from the mothers maiden name still continues right upto my Brother today !

Making headway or what !

Sorry Ian

Got carried away making the Easter Bags and 6 Easter Cards.

I am so glad that my hubby helps so much with templates and things.  ;D

Anyway here is the last one the best I can do.

The Will of Thomas 1811

 3. I Thomas Greenough Innholder, Plumber and Glazier being of sound Disposing Mind etc.
Unto my wife Ann Greenough all that my Mefsauge Tenement or Inn (guess what Ian it was the Bear Inn) now in my own Pofsefsion and Occupation.

Also All that Mefsauge Tenement Bakehouse adjoining thereto (Richard Bosworth occupying) in Sheep St and all other my real Estate whatsoever.

Ann everything for her Natural Life and after her decease All my children that maybe living and the child or children of such of them be then dead leaving issue their several and respective Heirs

But the Children of any deceased Child shall not have or be intitled to a larger share.

His personal Estate by William Clarke the Younger and Thomas Harris Glazier their Heirs Executors etc (they are asked to later to act as Guardians of Thomas’s children before they reach 21).
(It is getting long winded now you really need a copy as it is on Parchment and lovely)

So as soon as all my Children have attained the age of Twenty one years etc.

Ann is made a Executor with William and Thomas.

Thomas Greenough the Testator  29th November 1808.

Thomas signs with his Seal. Witnesses Robt. Abbey, Anne Abbey, George Abbey.

I just think this is so incredable,
This is a very wealthy family !
and as i was going through the census i got the idea that they were indeed WEALTHY as Rand Edward Greenough is a Mechant and his wife a Merchants Wife who later on is mentioned in another Census as Occupation LADY !

So the Bear Inn is the one that is still there today and called the Bear Inn near the bus station ! and my 4 X Gt Grandfather was the owner !
The Bakehouse which was next door (no doubt still standing)
OH WOW i just dont belive it ! and if i am right this will be public house number 12 which my direct family was into ! i can safely say a lot of my family were shoe makers and publicans !
yes i think i need a trip up there to see this document for myself.
Still working on the Greenough side with lots more results to come i am sure.

by the way love the easter bags ;D
