thank you for that Zelley.
I've actually had someone contact me about a Charles in the family. So maybe that's the one!
You've given me a bit more to go on.
Many thanks

Think this is a lovely thread, full of pride for our maternal forebearers,

Grandmother - what a warm and wonderful word for me  :)

Mine were:

Ellen Jane Flynn, b Glamorgan 1878-1959 she died 10 days after I was born so met her briefly, have complete history although only have her parents on one census and remains my brick wall.  Would really have liked to have know her, have many family stories and have lived her life through my research.  My beloved nan's mother.

Mary Catherine Mordecai b Glamorgan 1872-1919 complete history and many generations back, sadly she died young.  Have family bible her husband completed.

Mary Ann Jones b Glamorgan 1873-1949 complete history although proved very difficult and costly.

Bridget Baggot, b Waterford Ireland 1880 - 1932 Lancs  my own lovely nans MIL, did not get along, think my Granch was in the middle though! Only have marriage cert and some family input.

I too have photos of all 4 Great Grandmothers. I'm only 17 so they were all alive until the 1970s and 80s. In this way I'm very fortunate. I still have both my Grandmothers with me too.
Mine were:

Winifred Catherine Kathleen Burke b. 1905 in Balham, London. She died less than 3 years before I was born, the same year as my Granddad  :(

Hildegard Maria Manthei b. 1910 in Heinrichswerder, Posen, Poland.

Margaret Mabel Munson b. 1897 in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland.

Selina Muscutt b. 1890 in Tunstall, Staffordshire, the oldest of my Great Grandmothers who also died the youngest.

That's lovely, Ryan!  I'm interested in your ggrandmother Hildegard.  Did she move from Poland to England or Ireland to meet and marry your ggrandfather?  Tell us a little about her!  :D
