I've been fortunate to have been able to trace all 4 of my great-grandmothers.
Three of them were children of the Colonies (Cape and Australia) - their *foremothers* of either English or Irish/English descent.
Mary DAVENPORT - born Queensland, Australia
Edith EDMONDS - born NSW, Australia
Dorothy BARNES - born Cape Colony, South Africa
Margaret THORBURN - born Scotland
I unfortunately only knew my Scottish great-grandmother and have such fond memories of her. Tracing the journeys and stories of the other women has been such a fulfilling thing to do ... not to mention terribly addictive!!
