Yes Zelley this was my gt grandma working in a pub. When I told my mum her grandmother worked in such a place she was shocked silly as her grandma was   very strait laced--maybe thats why, she had seen what the demon drink had done.......Also a bit of irony here I went on to marry a Mr Beckett!!!So also finished up in Becketts arms......

Of interest, in 1881, a Mary Judson from Newark (Upon-Trent)
can be found in Lincolnshire residing at the Becketts Arms Inn.
I guess there would be many interesting stories to tell about the
life & times of the folks at the Inn

i have managed to trace 3 out of 4, (RICHARDS, VINTON, & PUNNETT) my problem area is my grandfather (WOJCIECHOWSKYJ) who came to england from the Ukraine in WW2, but i have now got an address to write to, to try and obtain his records and so progress back further. fingers crossed.

Holman & Vinton- Cornwall, Wojciechowskyj & Hussak- Bukowiec & Zahutyn, Bentley & Richards- Leicester, Taylor-Kent/Sussex  Punnett-Sussex,  Bear/e- Monkleigh Gazey-Warwicks
