Hi Capricorn,

That's good information!

From her previous posts, it seems that KatieC had Agnes (Agnes Liddell who married O'HARA) but not William or Mary.

So the MCGOWAN family now becomes:
From the 1861 census
William ca 1847 Gorbals
Agnes ca 1849 Gorbals
Mary ca 1853 Gorbals
From the IGI (OPR)
John McKechnie 1854 Gorbals
From the IGI (Statutory Register) before the 1861 census
Maria 1856 Hutchesontown (listed as Govan in the census)
Thomas 1858 Hutchesontown (listed as Govan in the census)
Rosanna Fletcher 1860 Hutchesontown (listed as Govan in the census)
From the IGI (Statutory Register) after the 1861 census
Margaret Adelaide Gray 1862 Hutchesontown
Bernard 1864 Hutchesontown (also registered in Dunoon & Kilmun, Argyll)
Elizabeth 1866 Govan
Peter McKechnie 1867 Govan

John McKechnie MCGOWAN is missing from the 1861 census - perhaps he did not survive.  And, indeed, a free search on ScotlandsPeople finds the death of a John McKechnie MCGOWAN - and refining the parameters shows that he was aged 0 and the place was Hutchesontown.

There might, of course, have been a further child, or further children, pre-1854 who did not survive.
