Hi Russell
The registers are still at the Parish because the PCC have decided not to deposit them. As a result the church get many requests for look-ups, especially from America, and requests to see the books themselves which they try to accomodate. However, some of the books are in a sad state of repair and taking copies is tricky, photocopying is often not an option so the archivist uses a digital camera.
So, I have received an email from Holy Cross Greenford with a copy of the entry in their Banns Book from 1766 for Robert Ambrose and Elizabeth Marnham. Can you send me a personal message with your email address so I can send it directly to you?
Their entry is in the standard format for that time and no actual date of marriage is shown. As the banns were published 3 times you can assume that they were considered married either at the very end of December or very early into January.
The photo is slightly cropped and, as far as I can tell, 'Banns' is missing from the top left, as are the first letters of 'published' on the third line and from the right, the last letters of the curate's name 'Campbell'. No other vital information is missing.
The archivist is still looking for a baptism, do you have a name to go on?
He will email with their address when this is all sorted.
Hope this helps.
