When you have a moment, would you be kind enough to see if you have any GREENEs in Bethnal Green?

Many thanks

Hello Isp

There are lots of Green families.  Only one Greene and that has a question mark.  Ann Greene? age 50.  You should not stick too closely to the ones with an e as the name would be changed by whoever wrote it.

If you give me some names and possibly ages I can look at those.

Many thanks for your reply - I apologise for the delay in acknowledging it.

I must admit that my request was a long-shot - as you know, we amateur genealogists have to make the most of any opportunities that present themselves!

Whilst I do not have any specific details of GREENE family members in Bethnal Green in 1851, it occurred to me that I might just find my elusive gggGreat Grandfather, David Polhill GREENE, lurking in Bethnal Green!

He died in 1854 - age 70 years - in Somers Town and I cannot find him in the 1851 Census at the address shown on his Death Certificate (Union Street, St Pancras).

One of these days, he'll turn up on a census and I will finally get a clue as to his birthplace - fingers crossed!

Many thanks again for the trouble you have gone to.

Best wishes

lsp

Sorry the only David Green was aged 2.  I looked at David Polhill just in case it had been misindexed but there was no-one there.

Hope you find him soon

Hi

Would you mind looking for a Benjamin Riggs  for me please with Wife Harriet. They married in Bethnal Green in 1849, so I'm hoping to find them still in the area. 1861/71 they were living in Globe Rd, Benjamin was a shoemaker

Hi

Thanks very much they probably are, there ages fluctuate all the time, he was 42 when he married in 1849, she was only 19, so they were obviously a bit on the fairytale side on the census.

Thats great.
